Stay plans · How to book

From first message to first swim

Five steps from the enquiry form to the driver at arrivals, plus the paperwork that matters for a stay of 7 to 14 nights: visa-free entry rules, travel insurance and what to send us before you fly.

The five steps

  1. 01

    Send the enquiry form

Dates or a date window, party size, the plan you like and the kind of room you want.

  2. 02

    Get a quote by email

One price for the stay, the named property, every transfer and activity, and what is excluded.

  3. 03

    Confirm and pay the deposit

The deposit, balance date and cancellation terms are written on the quote. You pay only after you have read them.

  4. 04

    Send arrival details

Flight numbers, arrival time, passport names as printed, dietary needs and anything about mobility.

  5. 05

    Receive the day plan

A written plan for the stay, the driver's meeting point at arrivals and area notes for your base.

If the property you want is full on your dates, we say so in the first reply and suggest one alternative in the same area rather than a list of ten.

Visa and entry for a long stay

Foreign visitors, including Vietnamese nationals travelling on foreign passports, can stay on Phu Quoc for up to 30 days without a visa if they enter directly through an international border gate. That covers every plan on this site. The exemption applies to Phu Quoc only: if you want to continue to mainland Vietnam afterwards, you need a valid visa before you leave the island.

If you need a visa anyway, Vietnam has issued e-visas valid for up to 90 days to citizens of all countries and territories since 15 August 2023, with a published fee of US$25 and processing of about three working days. Rules change; check the official government portal before you book flights.

Before you fly

  • Insurance. Buy travel insurance that covers medical treatment and, from May to October, weather disruption. If you plan to ride a scooter, check that it covers that too.
  • Driving licence. Vietnam recognises International Driving Permits issued under the 1968 Vienna Convention, carried with your home motorcycle licence. 1949 Geneva permits are not recognised, and insurers may refuse claims from unlicensed riders.
  • Phone. Viettel, VinaPhone and MobiFone SIM cards are sold just after baggage claim at PQC; tourist packages cost about 100,000 to 300,000 VND and need your passport. eSIMs work too.
  • Cash. A foreign-card ATM withdrawal costs about 40,000 VND per transaction by one published figure, so take larger amounts less often.
  • Plugs. Vietnam uses plug types A, B and C; devices rated for 220–240 V work without a converter.

On arrival

Your driver waits in the arrivals hall at PQC with a name card. If your flight is delayed, the driver tracks it; you do not need to message anyone. The airport is about 20 to 30 minutes from Duong Dong by car, and further to the north-west bases, so the plan for day one is always light.

If something goes wrong during the stay, such as a room problem or a missed transfer, reply to the email thread you booked on. For anything urgent on the spot, the property's reception is your first call; we give you its details in the day plan.

Changes and cancellations

The cancellation terms are written on each quote, because they depend on what the property charges us for that room on those dates. Read them before you pay the deposit. Date changes are easier than cancellations: tell us as early as you can and we ask the property to move the booking.

Weather is the other variable. Our plans do not depend on boats, so rain changes a day rather than cancelling it. Where a plan includes an optional boat morning, the captain and the port authorities decide on the day; if they cancel, we move it or refund that line.

Common questions

Questions travellers ask most

How far ahead should we book?

For December to February, as early as you can; peak rates are 30 to 50 percent higher. For May to October, a few weeks is usually enough.

Can we book only the transfers and activities?

We prefer to book the room as well, because the plan depends on the base. If you already have a room, tell us where and we will say honestly whether a partial booking makes sense.

Do you need our passport details?

We only need names exactly as printed in the passport to book rooms and transfers. Bring the passport itself; expect the property to ask to see it at check-in.

How do we pay?

Payment methods, the deposit and the balance date are set out on the quote. We send payment details only in reply to your own enquiry.
