Daily costs for a long stay
What a day on Phu Quoc costs once you have arrived: rooms by area, rides, a scooter, meals, a massage, plus how far each quiet area is from a market and a hospital. Every figure is sourced and dated.
How to read this page
These are typical market figures from sources published between 2024 and 2026, read on 11 October 2026. They are not our prices, and they move with the season. Use them to budget the days you spend on the island outside anything we book, and to check whether a quote makes sense.
Prices are in Vietnamese dong because that is what you pay on the island. A cash withdrawal from an ATM with a foreign card costs about 40,000 VND per transaction by one published figure, so fewer, larger withdrawals are cheaper.

The long-stay area table
| Area | After dark | Nearest market | Nearest hospital or clinic | Room range per night | To Duong Dong |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Duong Dong | Busy; night market busiest 19:00–21:00 | Duong Dong market, 05:00–19:00 | General hospital, open 24 h; clinics in town | about 350,000 – 800,000 VND | In town |
| Ong Lang | Quiet; described as less visited | Duong Dong market | Duong Dong, by car | about 450,000 – 1,500,000 VND | about 6 km; Grab about 80,000 VND |
| Cua Can | Quiet; natural, unspoiled beach | Cua Can market (seafood, vegetables) | Duong Dong or Vinmec, by car | about 400,000 – 1,000,000 VND | past Ong Lang |
| Ganh Dau | Village quiet; busy resort strip nearby | Ganh Dau market, 06:30–21:30 | Vinmec, Bai Dai area | mostly resorts on the Bai Dai strip | about 30 km; bus 50–70 min |
Noise is described in words, not decibels: we use what published guides say about each area, and the night market's busy hours. Distances to markets and hospitals are given only where a source states them; elsewhere the table says "by car". Room ranges are for typical rooms, not villas.

Getting around: Grab, taxi, scooter or car
| Option | Typical cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Grab, short ride in Duong Dong | about 30,000 – 60,000 VND | Book in the app |
| Grab, Duong Dong to Ong Lang | about 80,000 VND | Each way |
| Grab, airport transfer | about 120,000 VND | |
| Metered taxi | roughly double the Grab rate | Airport to Duong Dong about 180,000 – 220,000 VND |
| Scooter, semi-automatic | about 150,000 – 200,000 VND a day | Passport or about 2,000,000 VND cash deposit |
| Scooter, automatic | about 200,000 – 250,000 VND a day | A full tank, about 50,000 VND, lasts two to three days |
| Car with driver | about 1,500,000 – 2,000,000 VND a day | Worth it for a day of errands across the island |
For a stay in Ong Lang with a trip into town every other day, Grab costs about 160,000 VND per round trip and needs no licence. A scooter costs more per day than that but covers everything. Vietnam recognises International Driving Permits issued under the 1968 Vienna Convention, held with your home motorcycle licence; 1949 Geneva permits are not recognised, and insurers may refuse claims from unlicensed riders.

Food and drink
| Item | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Banh mi from a cart | about 25,000 – 35,000 VND |
| Banh canh (thick noodle soup) | about 40,000 – 60,000 VND |
| Com tam (broken rice) | about 50,000 – 70,000 VND |

| Dish at a west-coast tourist restaurant | about 150,000 – 300,000 VND |
| Local beer, street-side | about 20,000 – 30,000 VND |
| Beer at a beach club or bar | about 50,000 – 80,000 VND |
The same survey gives daily food budgets per person of about 150,000 to 250,000 VND for backpackers, 350,000 to 600,000 VND mid-range and 800,000 to 1,500,000 VND for comfortable eating. It also reports that night-market stalls charge roughly double restaurant prices for seafood. At Duong Dong market, an agency guide quotes mackerel at about 130,000 VND per kg and large squid at 200,000 to 250,000 VND per kg, useful if your room has a kitchen.

A sample week from Ong Lang, per person
| Item | Count | Typical cost for the week |
|---|---|---|
| Grab round trips to Duong Dong | 3 | about 480,000 VND (shared if two travel) |
| Mid-range eating | 7 days | about 2,450,000 – 4,200,000 VND |
| 60-minute massage, island salon | 2 | about 600,000 – 1,000,000 VND |
| Kayak hour at Cua Can | 1 | about 80,000 – 100,000 VND |
| Suoi Tranh ticket (wet months) | 1 | about 30,000 VND |
| Local SIM package | 1 | about 100,000 – 300,000 VND |
That comes to roughly 3,700,000 to 6,100,000 VND per person for the week before the room, by our arithmetic on the published figures above. Your room is the larger number: seven nights in Ong Lang at the typical range of 450,000 to 1,500,000 VND a night, and 30 to 50 percent more from December to February.

Massages and wellness
Massage is cheap enough on the island to make part of a weekly routine. A 2026 survey publishes a classic 60-minute body massage at about 300,000 to 500,000 VND in salons, foot reflexology at about 300,000 to 620,000 VND, and resort-spa treatments from about 700,000 VND. One Duong Dong day spa lists opening hours of 09:00 to 23:00; one Ong Lang resort spa lists 09:00 to 19:00.
Several resorts on the north-west coast list morning yoga for guests. A hotel blog suggests standalone drop-in classes cost about US$10 to 20, but it names no studio with that price, so treat it as a rough guide. Our wellness week books three treatments and chooses a property with morning yoga.

Season changes everything except lunch
Rooms are where the season shows. One 2026 survey puts peak season, roughly December to February, at 30 to 50 percent above other months, and gives the example of a guesthouse charging 400,000 VND in June and 600,000 VND in January. September and October can drop 40 to 50 percent. Walk-in rates run 20 to 30 percent above online prices.
Food, rides and massages hardly move. So a long stay in May, June or October costs noticeably less in total while the daily spending stays the same. Read Phu Quoc in the rainy season before choosing those months, and see the stay plans for what we include.

Is Grab cheaper than a scooter for a long stay?
If you go into town every other day from Ong Lang, Grab is about 160,000 VND per round trip and needs no licence. Daily scooter hire costs 150,000 to 250,000 VND plus fuel but covers every trip.
